Launch of a Feasibility Study on Water in Madagascar
The 12,000 inhabitants in the departmental capital of Île de Sainte-Marie receive their water through an outdated network managed by the national water distribution company. At the request of the Ministry of Water, GRET launched a study on the technical improvements to be made to this network and the conditions and modalities to improve its management. The study will make it possible to assess households’ willingness to pay for improved service and the demand for related services such as sanitation and waste management. It will allow the Ministry to decide on future necessary investments for the city, and GRET could be led to support the implementation of the recommendations in the study.
