| Social development
in neighbourhoods and cities is one of this cluster's major intervention
orientations. The objective is to improve quality of life for low-income
urban populations. In many developing countries, the current situation is
of course the result of a lack of investment, but also and above all a lack
of organisation that would make it possible to make such investments and
manage infrastructures. In response to this, our approach is to develop
sustainable mechanisms that make it possible to make and manage appropriate
investments, associating public stakeholders (municipalities, the State)
and civil society stakeholders (grassroots groups, professional support
organisations). Our approach is most often dovetailed around specific technical
inputs such as water, housing, household waste, electricity, energy, etc.
Our urban actions focus on poor populations and the inhabitants of intermediary
neighbourhoods. In rural areas, we are usually active in large towns or
secondary centres. |
