| Networking/Sector Stimulation |
||
In parallel with its field activities, the Microfinance Cluster's vocation is to contribute to stimulating the French-speaking microfinance sector through networking, sharing knowledge, pooling resources, and analysing and documenting experiences and know-how. In this framework, GRET participated in the creation of CERISE, a platform for exchange on microfinance practices and experiences that is made up of French specialist organisations; GRET also co-moderates, with CIRAD, a microfinance mailing list, EspaceFinance, with more than 350 subscribers. |

CERISE (the "Comité d'Echanges, de Réflexion et d'Information sur les Systèmes d'Epargne-crédit" [committee for exchange, reflection, and information on savings and credit systems]) is a platform for exchange on microfinance practices and experiences. It is made up of French organisations specialised in studies, implementation, and support for microfinance institutions in developing countries. The current members are CIDR, CIRAD, GRET, and IRAM. |

This committee analyses past and present practices notably through case studies and works on experience analysis and documentation likely to help microfinance stakeholders understand the challenges for tomorrow and improve their practices. For each theme addressed, the committee's work exchanging information and analysing experiences allows it to publish case studies and crosscutting summaries, and organise seminars and workshops for partners in developing countries. The main themes studied are governance, microfinance intervention modes, microcredit impact, and agriculture financing.
