Project
Introduction of a Management Advice for Family Farms (MAFF) service in Malawi
Technical Support
Malawi

Concern Worldwide and GRET will develop a pro-poor, participatory and country specific approach enabling vulnerable small holders to project themselves into the future with the simple and handy tools of Management advice for family farms (MAFF). These tools give to farmers the capacity to make decision with all needed information. It will further aim to allow smallholders to avoid or be ready for adverse events and decrease their dependency toward dominant stakeholders.

Over the three years of the action, the programme will create a MAFF service that covers 2,500 poor households in Malawi across three districts of intervention (Lilongwe, Nsanje and Nkhotakhota).

Gret will provide technical assistance over 3 years to Concern Worldwide programme in Malawi to develop its MAFF component.

Gret services will consist in technical missions from two experts from GRET (two specialists in MAFF with previous experience in Africa and Asia) to train Concern WW project staff dedicated to this activity and to design the overall methodology of implementation. Adequate tools will be created according to the assessed needs and requests from CBOs and volunteer farmers. A specific effort will be put on capitalizing experiences, follow up formats and supportive documents in order to promote and disseminate, later on, MAFF approach if it brings encouraging results.
