Under the supervision of a steering committee made up of the principal land tenure specialists in the various disciplines concerned (socio-anthropology, tenure legislation, economics, etc.), GRET is coordinating and conducting this study which mobilised approximately forty researchers and aims to provide a comprehensive view of land tenure in sub-Saharan Africa. Collective publication: Quelles politiques foncières en Afrique noire rurale ? Réconcilier pratiques, légitimité et légalité.

Organising and running a regional seminar attended by 25 researchers and experts from French- and English-speaking West Africa. GRET is the delegated contract manager for this seminar, which was co-organised with and the legal and political sciences department of the University Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis (Senegal), with the collaboration of IIED (the International Institute for Environment and Development, London). This seminar resulted in a publication.

This finalised research programme aims to provide development actors with tools to better understand the land tenure stakes for lowland development. GRET coordinates and manages this programme. It designed the programme, enrolled the partners, and pilots it. The results have been published by Editions du Gret under the title “Prendre en compte les enjeux fonciers dans une démarche d'aménagement”.
