GRET publishes specialised works on development. These books fulfil two functions. The first is to make technical, economic or organisational references available to development stakeholders, notably those in developing countries, so that they can make choices and facilitate decision-making in action. The second function is to analyse and document, optimise, and disseminate knowledge on development methods based on the analysis of projects and field practices. The subjects covered in these books are treated in a multidisciplinary manner that combines economic, social and technical approaches. They present a combination of knowledge and field studies, methodology advice, and practical information. GRET’s catalogue of publications currently contains 110 books and can be consulted on-line on GRET’s Web site (www.gret.org).

InterDev is a mutualist information service built on new information technologies (whose development began in 1999). It seeks to offer development practitioners validated references on experiences, techniques, and methods. In different thematic fields (food processing commodity chains, agroecological production systems, etc.), a network of practitioners from developed and developing countries produces and makes available operational information based on their practices. This information is organised in databases, accessible through a Web site that serves as a platform for exchange between development stakeholders. InterDev can thus be thought of as a community of interest, a mutualist network of organisations that share reliable technical and methodological information, that offers free access to most of this information to other research or development support organisations.

Agridoc is a rural development information and documentation network created by French Development Cooperation. Created in 1978 for technical assistants and agricultural education establishments, Agridoc progressively widened its activities to the ensemble of rural development professionals in the countries concerned. The re-launch of AGRIDOC activities in October 2000 took place in the framework of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs' priority solidarity fund. The project is organised around two components: network moderation, entrusted to BDPA, and creation of professional publications, entrusted to GRET.
