World Habitat Day Update

One billion people live in shantytowns in cities in developing countries. The population density in these areas, the precarious infrastructures, the meagre financial resources, and the fragile governance make cities vulnerable to weather hazards and leave them unable to protect their inhabitants. On World Habitat Day, GRET issued a reminder that habitat is not merely a matter of building or improving houses, it is also a matter of uniting and strengthening inhabitants’ capacities to secure precarious settlements and better adapt to climate risks.
