A New Program Combining Environmental Protection and Economic Development in Brazil

Active in Brazil for nearly 25 years, GRET will implement a program to support the elaboration of a sustainable forest and biodiversity management policy in Amapa State. Signed in October with the French Global Environment Facility (FGEF), GRET will work in partnership with the government of Amapa State and Conservation International, an international conservation NGO. This program consists of accompanying Amapa State in the sustainable management and exploitation of its 2.4 million hectares of forest, by developing a territorial development policy based on the constitution of a biological corridor of protected areas. GRET will provide its experience working with communities and small private entrepreneurs on low-impact forest management.
