Drinking Water and Sanitation in a Semi-Urban Environment in Mauritania

Until 2017 Burgéap, GRET and Hydroconseil are providing the technical assistance for the Five Wilayas project in Mauritania, which is seeking to reduce by 25% the number of people deprived of drinking water and sanitation in five regions (Gorgol, Guidimakha, Assaba, Hodh El Gharbi and Hodh El Charghi). The idea is to improve access to drinking water in 80 towns/villages, set up sanitation amenities in 280 towns/villages while at the same time improving the hygiene and sanitation practices of 400,000 people and bolster the institutional framework of semi-urban hydraulics and the management systems of semi-urban centres. GRET is tasked with hydraulic assistance to the contracting authority.
