GRET believes that companies can contribute to development. It acts with them in two ways: supporting small enterprise in developing countries (start-up, capacity building, shareholding) and partnering with large companies in developed countries in the context of their corporate social and environmental responsibility policies.
Partnerships for Development
Since 2006, GRET has developed roughly forty collaborations with approximately twenty companies in France through service provision, sponsorship, and skills sponsorship. Four such collaborations involve large-scale partnerships (more than 100,000 euros). The partnerships are notably in two of GRET’s sixteen fields of expertise—water and sanitation, and nutrition.
These collaborations sometimes involve, beyond financial support, support in the form of skills sponsorship and expertise from the partner company in its field. In addition, GRET has allowed the companies to better know the needs of developing country populations and encouraged them to adjust their practices to better respond to these needs.
Fonds d’Innovation pour le Développement (FIND)
FIND is the innovation for development fund created by GRET in 2011 with an endowment of one million euros. It brings large corporate and individual donors together to build innovative development solutions. It finances GRET’s technological and social innovation programs, shares the lessons learned from them, and formulates concrete proposals destined to promote innovative development practices and fuel companies’ CSER and R&D strategies.
