The action aims to improve the food security of households in the targeted zones by better meeting producer-households’ needs, by increasing their incomes and those of other actors in the commodity chain and by better supplying urban centers with quality local products. Its objective is to increase the production and sale of rice and palm oil in four prefectures in Upper Guinea and two prefectures and two sub-prefectures in Forested Guinea.
The project combines (i) physical investments (hydro-agricultural schemes; production, processing and storage equipment), (ii) capacity-building activities for groups of economic operators, farmers, processors (steamers and hullers in the rice commodity chain), and shopkeepers, and (iii) assistance for structuring and consultation between actors and with the local and national authorities.
GRET provides project management in partnership with the Guinean partner, MGE.
