Technical Support for the EHGP en Ethiopie
|Start date||End date||Budget||Funding|
The Ethiopian Homegardens Project (EHGP) aims to help enhance and promote the biodiversity of Ethiopian gardens by developing the commodity chains for garden produce through the use of quality marks (geographical indications, organic farming, etc.). The project aims to study potential commodity chains for these products, begin to develop GI regulations, and open a "land center" in Ethiopia.
The aim of the technical assistance task force is to help the organization managing the project (the Environmental Protection Authority, EPA) conduct training seminars on how to set up Geographical Indications, and help define the terms of reference for a project to support the Ethiopian authorities, which would consist of implementing a geographical indication development project including support for the Ethiopian authorities to implement GI regulations, and support "pilot" GIs.
