This project aims to foster local energy supply using typha charcoal as a sustainable alternative to wood-based charcoal by setting up local production units managed by village artisans. Typha is an abundant local resource. This market within the Trarza region will create economic activity and jobs, generating incomes for the inhabitants. In partnership with ISET and PND, GRET is working to perfect a marketable product, establish the local charcoal production chain, and sell the product in the production zone and in Nouakchott.
